CULVER CITIZENS! Unrelated to this article, but did anyone else get the flash flood notification…? Stay safe out there! ⛈️⛈️⛈️
ANYWAY ~
This past weekend, we had the fantastic opportunity to immerse ourselves in the Curb Your Enthusiasm universe. Ahead of the 12th and final season premiere of the show, HBO hosted a promotional pop-up that transformed both Menotti’s Coffee Shop locations in Culver City and Venice into… Latte Larry’s!
The pop-up was inspired by an episode from season 10, where Larry opens a coffee shop after he’s banned from Mocha Joe’s. Latte Larry’s boasted the driest of scones, the most piping hot cups of spite (coffee), coat racks, endless bottles of Purell, tables that were sturdy as f*%!, and no restroom (making it a defecation-free zone).
As dedicated Curb fans and proud Culver locals, missing this event was simply not an option for us. BUT… standing in line for over an hour in the freezing LA rain for a cup of coffee gave us pause.
Would Larry David ever endure such a thing???🤔
Unlikely. However, we went with a friend we hadn’t seen in ages and brought our own coffees for the wait, making the experience much more bearable. Surprisingly, we ran into more acquaintances in line than we do when we go to our hometowns for Thanksgiving dinner. The line itself almost felt like a community meet and greet! It was basically the hottest club in LA this past weekend, despite it being freezing.

After an eternity of standing in the rain while listening to an extremely detailed recap of our bestie’s dating life, it was finally our turn to step inside and warm up with some HBO-flavored coffee! We were greeted by a welcoming welcome mat and Larry David’s face adorning every corner. The atmosphere was instantly delightful! Larry's face is so comforting. We may have also immediately bought merch (which we’ll share when it arrives). WE ARE SUCKERS FOR MERCH.

Now, onto the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Were the scones as dry and was the coffee as hot as advertised? To our relief, the scones WERE dry (and delicious), and the coffee was PIPING hot (and obviously great, courtesy of Menotti’s delicious beans). Plus, the coat rack and Purell came in handy. Turns out, Larry really knows how to create the perfect coffee experience. Culver - take note.

Kinda wishing it could stick around forever, but alas, she’s already gone. RIP Latte Larry’s, you were a nice Sunday morning <3
Signing off, Best Of Culver City. xoxo
